Throughout Scripture, God calls His people to care for the afflicted, provide for the needy, and demonstrate His compassion in tangible ways. While each person’s greatest need is spiritual and our primary mission is to point others to our Savior Jesus Christ, we also rejoice in the opportunity to meet others' physical needs as a demonstration of the love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts. The Disaster Relief Fund exists to extend this practical aid to those affected by natural disasters and crises.
The church’s mission is, first and foremost, to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Yet, throughout Scripture, we see that true faith is not indifferent to suffering. The Lord commands us to “do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith” (Galatians 6:10). In doing so, we reflect our God’s love and compassion for the needy.
The apostle Paul reminds us that those who have been blessed materially should be "rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share" (1 Timothy 6:18). By giving to the Disaster Relief Fund, you enable the church to provide essential aid to those in need. It is our practice to supply aid through local churches so that this giving is done in wisdom and to encourage others to also seek help for their spiritual needs.
As we minister to those in crisis, we do so with confidence in God’s sovereign purposes, trusting that He uses even trials to accomplish His perfect will. May the Lord be glorified as we serve those in need and proclaim the unshakable hope found in Christ alone.
